Imagine the joy multiplies because you are in it with your colleagues, soaking up the chill moment with no work-related matters tucked in your mind. The more the merrier after all! These scenes are glimpses into how Mitrais recently ventured out for an office outing.

Why Outing?

While most staff have the flexibility and convenience to work in hybrid mode, it sometimes could lead to a sense of disconnection among team members. To address this, Mitrais organized a getaway for its staff, aiming to foster teamwork, enhance communication, and strengthen relationships among them. Hence, this year’s outing was fueled with a bombastic theme: ‘Escape the Screen, Embrace the Scene’. Let’s zoom in to unfold their mind-blowing outing adventures.

Yogyakarta: VW and Colours Adventures

There was something rather charming about the outing in Yogyakarta. Sleek, colourful Volkswagens sliced through the town streets on Menoreh Hill. Staff in groups drove their VW, completely drowned in their convoy, playful jokes, and giggles while the wind whipped their hair. In the backdrop, standing the majestic Borobudur temple, watching over the lush greenery of Menoreh. After the riding adventures, it was time to participate in team-building activities at the area of Borobudur, where they engaged in solving puzzles, building blocks and circles of fun.

Uniquely, their outing included visiting local small businesses such as beekeeping, traditional crackers, and batik workshops, which deepened their insights into craftsmanship. At the batik workshop, the enthusiastic staff experienced batik colouring where they learned about colour combination, stroking technique and undivided focus to create intriguingly beautiful art pieces – such a tranquil and rewarding experience. The event in Yogyakarta was topped up nicely with friendly chatters among colleagues over the inviting aroma of sizzling barbeque and deliciously hot piping shabu-shabu at a popular Japanese restaurant in town.

Bali: Dining Under the Stars and Grooving the Night

What’s an outing on the island of Gods without the beach? The Bali-based team hit Atlas Beach Club, the largest beach club in the world for their escape, having one of the best days of their life. A beautiful afternoon with a dusk ambiance and melodious November sea waves in Canggu welcomed the Bali squad as they started their team-building activities. Cheers burst with laughter as they competitively tried to be the winning team.

Navigating the challenges wasn’t a walk in the park for our adventurous teams. From tiptoeing on the sandy shores without leaving a trace to mastering the art of manoeuvring rubbery objects with chopsticks, and even crafting a stellar formation with ropes – who knew the casual day out would morph into a playful adventure. In a burst of creativity, the teams joined forces to accomplish a unique project: designing fabulous outfits crafted entirely from newspapers for one lucky teammate.

The finale was dining under the star on the rooftop while being serenaded by the club’s lively band. Many then hit the dance floor by the pool and grooved to their heart content. They danced the night away to the beats with smiles and glimmering eyes.

Jakarta: A Staycation in the Evergreen

The outing for the Jakarta office staff was quite fancy. They packed their suitcases and left the city’s hustle and bustle, embarking on a trip to bid farewell to fatigue. Warm sun rays that peeked through the lush trees and cool breeze of Bogor soon greeted them after a few hours. A relaxing, fun-packed staycation day at the Padjajaran Suites Resort and Convention Hotel awaited them.

At the venue, they got into exciting team-building games featuring missions at different stations, along with water-based activities that sparked belly laughs that broke the ice and enhanced team bonding. The staff let their hair down for the rest of the day and dinner while their eyes rendezvoused on the green hues of the panoramic view of Mount Salak before returning to Jakarta the next day.

Bandung: Wet-and-Wild Wonders

Meanwhile, somewhere in Bandung, the staff were standing against a giant watery wonderland. Under the azure blue sky, they slapped on their sunscreen like there was no tomorrow, gearing up to unleash their inner mermaid and merman in the water battlefield at the Wahoo Waterworld. They then played team games that included confidence-building activities, such as cowboy-themed shooting challenges, Suite Samurai, and Cut the Target which fostered teamwork among colleagues.

In the water splash, everyone burst into laughter, rekindling their inner child, letting their guards down, while pure joy spread on their sun-kissed smiles. Food was non-negotiable for a Mitrais pool party, and they feasted like kings and queens. For free time activities, the staff wandered around to explore any other aquatic indulgence that the water park could offer before heading back to their on-land routines.

Thoughts on the Outing

Zainul Saifulah Azis, a Bandung-based Junior Programmer, shared what still lingered in his mind about the outing, “In the current hybrid situation where everyone mostly works from home, there are moments when we may find ourselves somewhat disconnected from others. Thankfully, Mitrais made the outing happen so we could escape the screen for a while, and reconnect with others. We cheered up in the splash zone, knocking each other down to grab victory – it was, hands down, super fun! The attacks and comical falls glared unfiltered laughter among us who would usually only pop on screens. I’m eagerly anticipating the next outing, where I can see others in person.

Adnyani Ika Putri, a Bali-based Finance team member also commented, “This year’s outing in Atlas Beach Club was an absolute delight!
