Since the outbreak of COVID-19 at the beginning of this year, many companies have changed their working method to remote in order to protect their employees from the disease. Reducing activities involving physical interaction became imminent, and it included cancelling all the regular offline gatherings that Mitrais used to hold. During this hard and uncertain times, a simple “how are you” sounds like a favorable way of reaching out to everyone.
As part of its employee engagement practices, the Mitrais Human Resources team has set a new routine to ensure every Mitrais employee is both physically and mentally healthy through a simple “how are you” call. As the staff parted to work from home, these calls bring about a sense of well-being and coziness since they keep them close and connected. This type of communication not only provides the company with updates regarding its employees’ health condition during the pandemic, but it also helps keeping a continued commitment between Mitrais and its staff.
Moreover, through these calls, Mitrais can make sure that its staff being physically absent doesn’t imply that they lose the chance of social enjoyment, since recreational activities don’t necessarily have to happen in person. To facilitate these meetups, Mitrais has shifted its way of holding these regular events to virtual means, such as online open forums, online happy hours, online yoga lessons, online afternoon tea-time (a 30-minute chit-chat in English after office hours), as well as smaller online gatherings by department or project. During these meetings, everyone has a chance to share stories, keep updated on the current situation, or simply greet their colleagues.
Both holding meetings and keeping up staff engagement through online may seem a bit challenging. Nevertheless, that doesn’t keep us from preserving our warm social interactions. Although we are physically apart now, we stay close to each other. Let’s keep connected! #MitraisLife #JoinMitrais#JoinMitrais
