A massive wave of contagious excitement is dancing in the air of Mitrais. The euphoria exudes from the company’s highly anticipated yearly event: Innovathon. Currently, the company is holding the 6th Innovathon where ideas and creativity collide to brew the best innovations. The event kicked off in July and peaked with a finale on November first.

Recently, Mitrais held the Expert Talks as part of the road to Innovathon-6. Fifteen out of thirty-two teams that advanced to the Semi-Final were awarded the privilege to attend an online series of Expert Talks with the big cheeses in Artificial Intelligence and Finance. Understanding that the lane to the Grand Finale was even more competitive, Innovathon wanted to equip the semi-finalists with unshakable knowledge of AI and financial projection skills to convince the sharks that they deserve to pitch in the battle royal. The online series was interactive with competent guest speakers from Bandung, Bali, and Tokyo. 

Session 1 – The AI Innovators: Conversations Beyond Code 

The ball started rolling on 13 September with tremendous enthusiasm to explore the world of AI with Dr. Ayu Purwarianti, the Co-Founder of Prosa.ai. The Head of Artificial Intelligence Centre at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) shed light on how the technology works and its potential – an eye-opening and inspiring session that broadened possibilities to enhance the trailblazers’ ideas. 

Session 2 – Forecasting Fortunes: Decoding Financial Projections 

Finance could be a daunting subject for rookies and math is not always everyone’s cup of tea. Hence, following the first session, the second talk themed Financial Projections came to the rescue on 25 September. This time, Andriansyah Bachtar, Mitrais’ Vice President of Finance and Accounting spilled the A to Z for successful financial projections for the participants’ ideas. From the island of Bali, he shared the bread and butter of creating a projection in such a way that it made financial projections look like an easy-breezy task. After a lively and fruitful QnA session, the teams became more confident to work on the projection part of their pitching.

Session 3 – The AI Nexus: Unveiling Tomorrow’s Technology

The Expert Talk was wrapped up with the third session on 27 September, featuring Andres Pardo Gines, a Research Engineer with over a decade of experience in Deep Learning. Joining live from Tokyo, the Junior Fellow in AI at CAC walked the semi-finalists through the fascinating world of AI’s latest technological advancements. During the workshop, the participants dove deeper into AI models, generative AI, deep learning, and ethical issues in AI implementation. 

Participants’ Impressions on the Expert Talks

Winarto Prastawa Subagja from the CAMS team remarked, “Truly grateful for the opportunity of attending the Expert Talks. The topics given were a mind opener. Each speaker was very knowledgeable, and they taught us a lot about how to turn a product into a business. What is more, the hosts were lovely and accommodating, so the sessions were always dynamic and efficient. For the coming Expert Talk, I hope that it would allocate more time for question-and-answer part.” he suggested. 

Another feedback came from Irfan Bawa Suteja from the AI-stimation team, “It was an insightful session on the latest trends in AI, and my team gained a deeper understanding of how AI can address challenges related to our idea. Overall, it was an informative and engaging event.”

Overall, the Expert Talks have tremendously helped the semi-finalists to refine their ideas and push them smoothly into business frameworks. With the positive outcome, Mitrais is committed to organizing future Expert Talk sessions and providing continuous learning opportunities at the workplace.
