The Mitrais Competency Framework
The Mitrais Competency Framework is a continuous learning and development program where we design, develop and measure the competencies of our staff to ensure that market demand is met and output is at the highest possible levels of quality. It represents a 15-year investment in competency system development that is a key differentiator in the market place.
It enables us to shape resources into competent and rounded professionals. It enables us to continuously reinvent experienced staff in an ever-changing world. And importantly, it ensures our clients receive the highest quality services.
All staff at Mitrais are enrolled in the Competency System the day they join Mitrais. They then start a journey through 22 development stages of ever increasing competence. In total, Mitrais defines more than 400 competencies. Employees continually assess themselves against the competencies as Null, Basic, Good, Expert & Leadership. This ensures:
Mitrais supplements the training provided using on-the-job training with the development of customised Learning Offerings stored in the company instance of Moodle for self-study and classroom training. Mitrais employs 9 full time trainers supported by competency champions drawn from practitioners with Expert or Leadership levels of competency.
Organisational capability in efficient software design, development and testing.
Demonstrable working processes complimented with Mitrais’ Competency Review System (CRS) guarantees high quality outcomes. We tailor our approach to the assignment, some of our core project management and software engineering competencies are outlined below.
As the foundation for our project management discipline, we use the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). Our project managers are trained in PMBOK by external, fully qualified PMI training providers. In addition, our project managers and team leads are fully conversant with SCRUM and many other Agile or waterfall based Methodology.
Resource capacity within software development and testing. Flexibility and speed of scaling the team in response to customer demand.
Mitrais has a total capacity of nearly 500 staff, with a target of 25% of our resources available on the bench at any one time enabling us to rapidly provision resources to new client requirements. Whilst resources are on the bench we deploy them to internal projects in the technologies we believe the market needs, thus enabling us to meet future customer demand.
Proven experience in delivering complex software development solutions to our customers.
Mitrais has 15 years’ experience and a proven track record in software development across more than 160 clients. We are proud to have a proven and trusted track record of delivery.
“We were looking for a software development partner for some time and after a lot of due diligence we decided that Mitrais was a good fit. When we had to begin an unexpected project immediately, we turned to Mitrais.
This was a high profile and technically complex project with contractual obligations – not an ideal first project for a software development partnership. However, time was of the essence, and it took less than a week to go from preliminary discussions to signed contracts and a development team ready to begin. It would have been impossible to ramp up our internal development team in such a short time.
I’m pleased to say that Mitrais met all of their obligations and delivered a high quality product on schedule. The internal development team had no trouble integrating the work into our core system. Mitrais is perhaps not the cheapest software development partner but their facilities are first class, the developers have the latest tools and Mitrais’ commitment to training and professional development shows through in the quality of work delivered. It is also worth noting that there were no language barriers or communication issues whatsoever. I would readily recommend Mitrais to any organisation looking for software development partner.”

Flexible and cost effective engagement models
Mitrais partners with a wide variety of companies, representing a diverse range of industry verticals and company sizes. Most of them share the same challenge. How can they get fast access to qualified staff to supplement their own in-house resources and provide development capacity in a cost-effective way?
By far the most popular solution offered by Mitrais is that of providing what is known as a Captive Team for a client. In this engagement model, Mitrais builds and manages a dedicated offshore team for the client, containing the skills and developer profiles that the client requires. A Captive Team Engagement Model involves the client contracting an offshore team from Mitrais rather than recruiting and employing their own staff or local contractors, with all of the effort and expense that can involve. Usually the commitment by the client is for a minimum of 6 months.
Using this engagement model, you can establish a core Captive Team with a deep knowledge of your business, all at a known cost per month. Captive Teams can perform any project roles required, but frequently perform only partial life cycles.
Other engagement models include Time & Materials. T&M engagements are generally used by the clients to address short-term or burst capacity, often for staff with specific skill sets. It is an efficient and cost effective way of supplementing an existing team as required.
