Software Engineer Graduate Program

Mitrais offers a three month induction program for new graduates upon joining. The program prepares new graduates pursuing a career as a professional software engineer, and provides an opportunity to learn new technologies. The first two months of the program are designed to learn about SWEBOK (the Software Engineer Body of Knowledge), introduction to project management, English, presentation skills and of course hard programming skills. The final month is used to apply these new skills in real-life project simulation. The induction program consists of 520 hours of class room training and trial project development.

In 2007, three induction course intakes (April, July and October) has graduated 77 software engineers.

“I always feel that working in Mitrais is more than just a job, it’s about building my career in software engineering, and that is exactly what the 3-month induction course has prepared me for. Not only did I learn about the latest technology or top-notch programming skills, I was also prepared to take the role as a leader. Personal development, good communication and leadership skills are always emphasized throughout the course, especially during the project simulation. And when we were told that we were going to work with some of the best people in the field, it was not an overstatement. The people who have mentored me are definitely some of the brightest people I have ever met, and to think that I am working with them now … how exciting is that!”

Being a part of Mitrais has brought big changes into my life. Working at Mitrais has given me experience and has challenged me to become a software engineering expert. By completing the Mitrais "Induction Course and Learning Offering Programme", I have learnt the structured process of software engineering. We call this practice the “Mitrais Process”.

The Mitrais Process is a set of planned and systematic activities that includes planning, requirements gathering, analysis and design, development, testing, deployment, configuration management and maintenance. This program not only enriched our knowledge of software engineering processes, but also enriched our programming skills by giving us advanced courses in Mitrais’ commonly used programming languages such as Java and .NET.

It's still not enough! By participating in the "Induction Course and Learning Offering Program ", we were also challenged to improve our English and presentation skills.

So, do you still think software engineering is only about programming? Believe me, we have received more training than just programming at Mitrais.
